Hi,
I wanted to comment on this post .The comments put by you are true to large extent, but the perspective in which you have put it is not correct. I m real time consultant and I agree that implementations are decreasing day by day- and that was suppose to happen. Over next 5 years, implementations will reduce almost unless new companies/business come and decide to go with decision to implement SAP. However, implementations will never reduce to 0 because as business grows/new companies come ,there will be demand for ERP. Also, all those companies who have implemented SAP, as their business grows- will expand to other countries ,they will rollout SAP and this is happening. Over next 10 years there will be roll outs by most MNCs. SAP is still to come to emerging continents like Latin America /some parts of Africa- where opportunities will be there always as they are still untouched by SAP .Also once implemented ,SAP operations and support will be evergreen. SAP support is not as easy as other technology support. There real time Business scenarios and issues come and you have to deal with that. Moreover, along with support a number of enhancement projects continue side by side - every now and then there is a new requirement by Clients and you have to customize the requirement. Along with that new modules- FSCM/SIMPLE FINANCE PS/BODS/BOBJ/HANA/EWM/BPC which are becoming popularly everyday will give you chance to work with newer areas-you can migrate to these anytime. Overall conclusion is
1.Sap is not just about implementations- it includes Sap Support/Operations, rollouts , Upgrade/enhancements Support will be evergreen always.
2.However, I will not recommend any new person to go for SAP training. The reason is simple- there is more supply for SAP consultants in market than demand.
Hope it gives better picture!!!
